Sky Vision picks up comedy, drama

The distribution arm of UK satcaster Sky has picked up international sales rights for two new series, as it continues to broaden its slate.

Sky Vision, which emerged out of the acquisition of Parthenon Entertainment, has previously focused on factual programming but it will now distribute comedy Doll & Em and 18th Century drama Moonfleet.

Doll & Em (6×30′), a semi-improvised series that follows the lives of two friends, is being produced by King Bee Productions for Sky Living HD. It has been co-created by Dolly Wells and Emily Mortimer (The Newsroom), who will also star in the shows.

Sky Vision has also picked up distribution rights to new feature-length drama Moonfleet, which is an adaptation of John Meade Faulkner’s novel. The show, which stars Ray Winstone, is being produced by Company Pictures for Sky 1 HD.

Carl Hall, MD of Sky Vision, said: “Following the launch of Sky Vision just last year, we are already offering a wide range of high-quality drama and comedy from Sky and other third-party producers. Although we’ve made a strong start, we have even more ambitious plans moving forward.”
