UK pay broadcaster Sky has confirmed the forthcoming 20th season of long-running sports comedy panel show A League of Their Own will be its last.

CPL Productions will begin filming its farewell season in Manchester this August, in front of its largest live audiences to date, ahead of its airing on Sky Max and streamer Now later this year.

Romesh Ranganathan will return to host the season, alongside team captains Jamie Redknapp and Jill Scott and series regular Micah Richards.

Launched in 2010 and hosted by James Corden until season 14, the multi-BAFTA-winning show has become one of Sky’s most successful entertainment formats while also spawning multiple A League of Their Own Road Trips spin-off specials.

Phil Edgar-Jones, executive director of original unscripted at Sky, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the show – it’s been a cornerstone of Sky’s entertainment line-up for 15 years and has delivered endless laughter, heart and unforgettable moments.

“Huge thanks to the brilliant team at CPL Productions and to our fantastic on-screen line-up – Romesh, Jamie, Jill and Micah – who continue to bring such energy and chemistry to the show.”

Murray Boland, creative director at Seven. One Studios-owned CPL Productions, said: “It’s been an incredible journey. We would like to thank all the amazing performers, guests and sports stars for all the laughs and inspiration. We’d also like to thank all the brilliant people who’ve worked so hard on the production team and crew.”

A League of Their Own is commissioned by Edgar-Jones for Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of Sky Studios and chief content officer at Sky. The commissioning editor is Barbara Lee and the exec producers for CPL are Boland, Danielle Lux and David Taylor.
