Sky, Syfy among broadcasters around the world to sign up for SurrealEstate

North American drama series SurrealEstate has been sold into more than 160 territories, including the UK, where it has been picked up by satcaster Sky.

The hour-long suspenseful drama has also been acquired by NBCUniversal International Networks & Direct-To-Consumer for its Syfy channel in France, Spain, Portugal, Latin America, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The deals were secured by Munich-based content company Leonine Studios, which is handling international sales alongside Rainmaker Content. Leonine Studios acquired the worldwide distribution rights (excluding the US and Canada) last year.

Norway’s TV2 and Iceland’s Stod2 have also taken the 10-part series, while Rock Entertainment Holdings has acquired the show for Asian territories.

Produced by Toronto-based Blue Ice Pictures for Syfy in the US and Bell Media’s CTV Sci-Fi channel in Canada, SurrealEstate follows a team of real-estate specialists who investigate, discover and correct the unconventional problems that make certain properties difficult to sell.

It stars Tim Rozon (Schitt’s Creek, Wynonna Earp), Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek, Larry Crowne), Adam Korson (Seed, Lucifer) and Maurice Dean Wint (The Kid Detective).

SurrealEstate was created by George R Olson, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. Lance Samuels, Daniel Iron, Armand Leo and Danishka Esterhazy also exec produce.
