Sky, NHK adopt Bo & To’s Family

Bo & To’s Family was commissioned by KBS and SK Broadband

UK pay TV channel Sky Kids and Japanese broadcaster NHK are among four international buyers to have picked up Korean stop-motion animated series Bo & To’s Family.

Amazon Kids Plus Germany and Ten Cent in China have also taken the 80×5’ animation series, which was originally commissioned by Korea’s KBS and SK Broadband.

Since airing, the first 54-episode season has been bought by kids’ streamer Kidoodle, US AVoD service Tubi and streamers Video365, Noorplay and Genius Brands.

Linear channels Mexico’s Canal Once, Czech TV, Israel’s Hop TV and Disney Korea are among the show’s previous buyers.

Produced by Korea’s Comma Studios, the show is a non-dialogue slapstick comedy about three rescue cats and their doting owner. UK distributor Serious Lunch is handling the series everywhere excluding Asia, where Comma retains the rights.

Leila Ouledcheikh, director of global sales at Serious Lunch, said: “We’re concentrating on finding the perfect places for such unique series to thrive. We are happy to see its international presence growing and we are close to launching a second season, bringing the total number of episodes to 80×5’.”
