Sky Kids lands Little Baby Bum spin-off

Mia’s Magic Playground will air on Sky Kids later this month

Sky Kids in the UK has acquired the spin-off from hit online children’s property Little Baby Bum from LA- and London-based Moonbug.

Mia’s Magic Playground, which is aimed at four- to six-year-olds, follows Little Baby Bum character Mia and her two best friends through their world of play.

The show will launch on Sky Kids later this month, marking the first partnership as part of Moonbug’s planned global distribution of the series.

It originally premiered across Scandinavia in February on Viaplay, the streaming service from Nordic Entertainment Group.

Little Baby Bum has an online fanbase of more than 47 million subscribers and has generated 30 billion views on YouTube alone. One of its episodes was the first non-music video to reach one billion views on YouTube.

Moonbug, co-founded by media veterans René Rechtman, formerly of Maker Studios, and ex-WildBrain Spark MD John Robson, owns a variety of kids’ IP that began life online. It acquired the rights to Little Baby Bum from its creators in 2018.

Lucy Murphy, director of kids’ content at Sky, said: “With lovable new characters exploring the world through play, Mia’s Magic Playground is sure to become a favourite for the younger end of our audience, who will love the colourful, imaginative world that Mia and her friends inhabit.”
