Produced by Five Mile Films, Murder in The Valleys is directed by Tom Barrow and series produced by Owen Phillips.

Nick Mirsky, the former head of documentaries at Channel 4, is executive producing having set up Bristol-based indie Five Mile Films in 2018, with backing from C4’s Indie Growth Fund.

Zai Bennett, Sky’s MD of content, and Poppy Dixon, director of documentaries and factual, commissioned the four-parter.

Murder in The Valleys, which examines the 1999 Clydach murders, is set to premiere on Sky Crime and streaming service Now on February 6.

In June 1999, three generations of one family were killed in the small village of Clydach, South Wales. For more than 20 years, and despite the conviction of a local builder, the case has deeply divided the community.

Dixon said: “The Clydach murders remain one of the largest and most divisive investigations in Welsh history. The team at Five Mile Films have meticulously re-examined the case and bring fresh scrutiny to the historic inquiry, in a richly thought-provoking and gripping series.”
