Sky hires Nutopia exec

BSkyB has hired Nutopia production executive Clare Handford as commissioning editor of factual, overseeing new and existing shows for the satellite TV provider’s channels.

At Nutopia, Handford secured the Discovery International commission for the show How We Invented the World. She also previously worked at IWC, developing shows such as Channel 4 series Brave New World with Stephen Hawking and BBC3’s Gareth Gates: Stammer House.

Handford will work under head of factual Celia Taylor and starts immediately. Handford said it was a “pivotal time” to be joining Sky, adding: “The range and diversity of its channels and its commitment to ambitious and original content on all platforms makes Sky an incredibly exciting place to be right now.”
