Sky Deutschland agrees factual output deal with BBC Studios at Showcase

Greta Thunberg: A Year to Change the World

German pay TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland has agreed to an output deal for factual content with BBC Studios (BBCS) on the first day of the latter’s annual showcase event.

The long-term partnership will make Sky Deutschland the pay TV home for BBCS factual content in Germany, covering 150 hours of programming.

The factual output from BBCS can be seen on Sky Nature and Sky Documentaries channels from Sky Deutschland, which launched in Germany in September 2021.

Its titles include Greta Thunberg: A Year to Change the World, Louis Theroux: Shooting Joe Exotic, David Attenborough: The Sound of Nature and Primates.

BBCS has an existing strategic partnership with German pubcaster ZDF to coproduce landmark factual shows, including the forthcoming Green Planet, presented by Attenborough, alongside co-developing scripted TV series.

New factual titles presented at BBCS’s Showcase event this week include natural history series Frozen Planet II and Dynasties II, documentaries Frida and Louis Theroux’s Forbidden America and science series Spectacular Earth.
