Sky D, RTP call in Paris Police 1900

Canal+ Creation Originale series Paris Police 1900

MIPTV: Sky Deutschland, Radio Canada and RTP in Portugal are among the international broadcasters to have picked up French period crime drama Paris Police 1900.

Created by Fabien Nury (The Death of Stalin), the show is a Canal+ Creation Originale series produced by Tetra Media Fiction and AFPI.

The series is set in the dark world of Paris during La Belle Époque and follows detectives, including a corrupt officer who moonlights as a hit man for the undercover police, as they investigate the murder of a young woman.

The deals, announced at this week’s Digital MipTV, join previous sales to Amediateka Russia, Nova Greece, M7 for the Netherlands, Belgium, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania and SBS in Australia.

Anne Chérel, exec VP global sales and distribution at StudioCanal, which distributes Paris Police 1900, said: “With a gripping narrative, magnetic acting performances and an ironic humour, this is a rich, deep and darkly layered drama series revealing a side of Paris that is rarely documented.

“Highlighting the stark disparity of the lives of the rich and poor as well as that of men and women at the turn of the century, the storylines may be set in a time gone by but Paris Police 1900 holds a mirror to many difficult issues that remain with us today.”
