Sky commissions feature doc to celebrate Hammer Films’ 90th anniversary

The doc will feature contributions from notable directors including Tim Burton

Sky in the UK has commissioned a feature doc to celebrate the 90th anniversary of prodco Hammer Films in November.

Founded in 1934 by William Hinds, Hammer Films is best known for its gothic horror and fantasy films made from the 1950s to the 1970s, including The Quatermass Xperiment (1955), Dracula (1958) and The Curse of Frankenstein (1957).

The 90-minute feature doc, called Hammer: Heroes, Legends & Monsters, is produced by Deep Fusion Films in association with Hammer Films.

Helmed by Deep Fusion’s co-founder Benjamin Field, the doc will track Hammer Films’ progression from a back office in London’s Regent Street to its iconic status in the horror film universe. It will feature contributions from notable directors including Tim Burton, John Carpenter and Joe Dante.

Hammer Films’ CEO John Core is exec producing and the prodco is handling international rights outside the UK.
