Sky, Channel 4, A+E Networks go shopping for unscripted content at BossaNova Media

Feature documentary Hindenburg: The Cover-Up

MIPCOM: UK broadcasters Sky, Channel 4, A+E, CBS and UKTV have all picked up unscripted content from the slate of London-based distributor BossaNova Media.

The package acquired by pay TV broadcaster Sky includes season five of Worldmark Films’ Caught on Dashcam, which features road incidents filmed by motorists around the world, and Greenstone TV’s Highway Cops, which follows officers attempting to keep drivers safe on New Zealand’s spectacular but unforgiving roads.

Channel 4 has picked up two titles from BossaNova’s history slate: AMS Pictures’ feature doc Hindenburg: The Cover-Up and Go Button Media’s Castle Secrets, originally produced for Super Channel Canada. Each episode of the 8×60’ series explores a historic castle.

A+E Networks UK has picked up BossaNova original Mysteries of the Ancient Dead (6×60’), also produced for Super Channel Canada by Go Button Media. The six-part series considers what happens to us when we die. A+E has also picked up the second season of Content Kings’ Secrets of The Lost Liners, having acquired the first season last year. The 6×60’ series, which has also been sold to SBS Sweden, looks at great ocean liners that, over the last 100 years, have been lost at sea.

CBS, meanwhile, has licensed Homicide with Ron Iddles, originally produced by CJZ for Channel 7 Australia. Hosted by one of Australia’s best-known detectives, the 6×60’ series goes behind the headlines to tell the inside stories of Iddles’s most challenging cases.

Lastly, UKTV has acquired season four of Stampede Productions’ Borderforce USA: The Bridges (10×60’), which follows the work of US customs and border protection officers.

The deals were brokered by head of sales Holly Cowdery and announced at Mipcom, where BossaNova is shopping its slate internationally.
