NBCU’s Hayu heads for Now TV

Chicago Med will air on Universal Channel in the UK and Ireland

Sky has extended its partnership with NBCUniversal (NBCU) by agreeing a deal that will see the European pay TV operator offering access to the US company’s reality streamer Hayu in the UK.

Reality-focused Hayu, which launched in the UK last year and is already available in the country via telco Virgin Media, will become available in 2018 via Sky’s UK on-demand service Now TV. Meanwhile, in Germany, NBCU’s Syfy will launch via its Sky Ticket service in 2019.

The “extensive multi-year agreements” also mean Sky’s customers in the UK, Ireland, Germany and Austria will continue to have access to Sky Cinema and NBCUniversal International Networks’ channels.

Universal Channel, Syfy and E! Entertainment will be available in the UK, Ireland, Germany and Austria while subscribers in the latter two countries will also have access to 13th Street.

Shows such as Chicago Med will air on Universal Channel in the UK and Ireland, while Dark Matter will remain on Syfy in Germany and Austria.

The Jurassic Park, Despicable Me/Minions and Fast & Furious franchises will be available to Sky subscribers on a first-run basis, while the deal also includes EST and TVoD arrangements for Sky Store.
