Size Matters for ZDFE, Screen Glue

The distribution arm of Germany’s ZDF has partnered with former BBC Science exec Jasper James to develop a series called Size Matters.

The factual department at ZDF Enterprises (ZDFE) and James’ production outfit Screen Glue will coproduce the series, which will investigate why things are the size they are.

James, founder of both Wide-Eyed Entertainment and Impossible Pictures, worked on Walking with Beasts and Walking with Dinosaurs during his time at the BBC.

ZDFE is targeting sales to both traditional free and pay TV and on-demand services and said the show has already attracted the interest of several networks and non-linear platforms.

“We feel we will be able to create an outstanding two-parter for broadcasters and networks on the East Coast and at the same time a long running series for non-linear platforms on the West Coast,” said Ralf Rückauer, VP ZDFE.factual at ZDFE.

“We’re going to marry the revelation of the best documentaries, the breathtaking visual effects of the most innovative feature films and the quirky curiosity of the best video-bloggers to create a series that is solid science with a twinkle in the eye,” added James.
