Sister completes full buy-out of Julia Nottingham’s Dorothy St Pictures

UK-headquartered production company Sister has acquired the remainder of Dorothy St Pictures, the unscripted-focused outfit behind Netflix’s Pamela: A Love Story and The Greatest Night in Pop.

The deal comes three years after Sister acquired a minority stake in Dorothy St Pictures, which has offices in London and New York and was founded by Julia Nottingham in 2018. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sister, which is led by co-founders Jane Featherstone (chief creative officer) and Elisabeth Murdoch (executive chair), said the deal would enable it to grow its talent pool in the UK and US and expand its development of non-fiction series and films as well as narrative films.

In addition to its unscripted slate, Dorothy St Pictures is lining up several scripted features, plus an upcoming Victoria Beckham docuseries with Studio 99 for Netflix.

Nottingham said: “[Sister’s] support has enabled us to stay adaptable as creative entrepreneurs, offering resource, experience and a shared view on the many opportunities ahead to tell more stories on a broader canvas. It’s the right time to extend our partnership, and I’m excited for what the future holds.”

Murdoch added that the deal would help Dorothy St Pictures “fulfil their ambitions and potential globally,” while Featherstone said the team “consistently capture the zeitgeist and exemplify premium in their field.”
