Simon Kerfoot appointed head of South Shore’s Cardiff office

ITV Studios-backed production company South Shore has tapped executive producer Simon Kerfoot as head of South Shore Wales.

The appointment comes as the company looks to expand its factual output in the country, with Kerfoot set to work out of South Shore’s Cardiff office alongside COO Anthony Hughes.

He will also work closely with South Shore co-CEOs Melanie Leach and Andrew Mackenzie and serve as executive producer on several BBC and Channel 4 series.

Throughout a 25-year career, Kerfoot has produced series for all the major UK broadcasters, with credits including The Hotel, Life and Birth, Cops Like Us, Surgeons: At the Edge of Life, Hairy Bikers Best of British and David Walliams: The Big Swim.

Based in London and Cardiff, South Shore was launched in 2019 by former Twofour execs Leach and Mackenzie. The company’s production credits include BBC 2’s The Hairy Bikers Go North, Channel 4’s Secret Spenders and BBC One’s upcoming Freddie’s First Eleven.

“Simon comes to South Shore with a fantastic CV and great reputation for attracting the best production talent in Wales and the West. We’re looking forward to seeing the output of the Cardiff office grow under his leadership,” said Mackenzie in a statement.

Kerfoot added: “The goal is to become a significant and dynamic regional hub making top-quality programmes that will nurture and attract the best local talent.”

Other recently aired programming from South Shore includes The Hairy Bikers Go North for Christmas (BBC 2), The Greatest Snowman (Channel 4) and The Man Who Bought Cricket (Sky Documentaries).
