Silvergate to adapt ¡Vamos! books

London- and New York-based prodco Silvergate Media has acquired the rights to bilingual picture book series ¡Vamos!, which it will develop into an animated TV series for kids and families.

Written and illustrated by Mexican-American author Raúl (González) the Third, ¡Vamos! is a series of picture books for children that are told in a combination of both English and Spanish.

Silvergate exec VP of creative content Kurt Mueller will produce the TV adaptation with Raúl the Third. Also producing is Kwame Alexander, founding editor of publishing company Versify, which publishes the picture books, alongside partner Arielle Eckstut. The pair produce through Alexander’s prodco Big Sea Entertainment.

“The books offer a seemingly infinite cast of characters and situations that celebrate frontera culture through a singular artistic lens. Every densely illustrated page is a season’s worth of great TV,” Mueller said.
