Significant Other is an award-winning Israeli comedy series from Yes Studios revolving around two neighbours – a man and woman – who meet as the first is attempting suicide and the second is in the middle of a heart attack. As both are rushed to hospital, an unlikely romance begins to blossom.

ITV Studios-owned Quay Street secured the format rights, and the UK version launched this week on sister streaming service ITVX, starring Katherine Parkinson and Youseff Kerkour. Writers Dana Fainaru and Hamish Wright spoke to Michael Pickard about adapting the series for British audiences, their writing partnership and their feelings about the US writers’ strike.
