NEWS BRIEF: ViacomCBS-owned US premium cablenet Showtime has renewed its drama series The Chi for a fifth season to air in 2022, produced by 20th Television.

Created and executive produced by Lena Waithe (Twenties, Boomerang) The Chi is a coming-of-age story centring on a group of residents on the South Side of Chicago who become linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption.
