Showtime, CBC Gem take BBC One revenge thriller Reunion to North America

Showtime and Paramount+ in the US and Canadian streamer CBC Gem have acquired BBC One revenge thriller series Reunion, which screened at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday.

Reunion features both British sign language and spoken English

The 5×45’ project, produced by UK-based Warp Films (Adolescence), stars Matthew Gurney as a deaf man returning to society after 10 years in prison with a hunger for both redemption and revenge.

The project is created and written by William Mager and told in both British sign language and spoken English. BBC Studios is handling global sales.

The series is directed by Luke Snellin (One Day, Wanderlust), who is also an executive producer, with Helen Ostler (The Last Kingdom, Crime) as producer and Siobhan Morgan (Waterloo Road, Hollyoaks) as associate producer. Mark Herbert (Adolescence, This is England) and Gwen Gorst (Unforgotten, A Discovery of Witches) exec produce for Warp Films, alongside Mager and the BBC’s Rebecca Ferguson and Jo McClellan.

In the US, Reunion will premiere on Friday September 12 on streamer Paramount+ before airing on linear channel Paramount+ with Showtime two days later. A new episode will premiere each week in the US. Meanwhile, in Canada, the entire season will launch on Friday September 19.

Reunion had its North American premiere on Friday in the TV-focused Primetime programme at Toronto International Film Festival. In the UK, the series aired on BBC One in April.
