Show host Julio César Rodríguez named programming director at Chilevisión

Journalist and presenter Julio César Rodríguez will take over as programming director of Paramount-owned channel Chilevisión on July 1.

Rodríguez will fill the position left vacant by the departure of Juan Pablo González, who left the Chilean broadcaster to join Megamedia as general director of strategic projects for the holding company and the Viña del Mar Film Festival.

Rodríguez takes over the position after 13 years at Chilevisión, where he hosts Contigo en la Mañana and Primer Plano, and will continue to do so.

In addition to Chilevisión, Rodríguez has experience in media outlets such as La Nación Domingo and pay TV channel Canal Vive, and in directing various entertainment programmes at Mega, TVN and Chilevisión.

Rodríguez also has a radio career, having hosted Radio Bío Bío for over 18 years. He also independently created and directs the digital channel YULY, along with multi-award-winning YouTube show La Junta.

Before González took over last year, Chilevisión’s programming direction had been in the hands of Francisco Espinoza since 2020.
