A Body That Works is an Israeli drama about the complex web of relationships involved in a surrogate birth from the point of view of the couple desperate to have children and the woman carrying their baby who dreams of the life they have.

The eight-part series features some of the country’s leading stars and began airing on local broadcaster Keshet 12 recently, with sibling Keshet International screening it to overseas buyers at Series Mania in Lille this week.

Writers Shira Hadad and Dror Mishani spoke to Michael Pickard about the show – inspired by Hadad’s personal experience – how it mirrors their own writing partnership and the reception it has received so far.
