Sheridan extends ViacomCBS deal

Taylor Sheridan’s modern-day Western Yellowstone

Taylor Sheridan, the Oscar and Golden Globe nominee who co-created US cable hit Yellowstone, has extended his deal with ViacomCBS and MTV Entertainment Group.

Under the multi-year pact, Sheridan will create exclusive multi-platform content with MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios. This will include five cycles per year of scripted and procedural series and the content will be exclusive to ViacomCBS outlets, which include Paramount Network, Paramount+ and CBS.

Following on from Yellowstone, co-created by Sheridan and John Linson, Sheridan’s new series for Paramount+ is a prequel to that drama entitled Y: 1883, focusing on the same family on a journey west through the Great Plains.

The series reflects a key strategy of Paramount+ to produce spin-offs from its hit shows, for which MTV Entertainment Studios will be a major supplier. Y: 1883 is exec produced by Sheridan, John Linson, Art Linson, 101 CEO David Glasser, David Hutkin and Bob Yari.

“Taylor Sheridan is a visionary creative whose work has reinvented genres and amassed fan bases around the globe; we are thrilled he calls ViacomCBS and MTV Entertainment his home,” said Chris McCarthy, president of MTV Entertainment.
