Seven. One Studios ready to Match My Ex at Mipcom as it reveals format slate

Match My Ex is a twist on the traditional reality dating format

Seven. One Studios has unveiled its Mipcom slate of formats and scripted content, led by a new twist on reality dating from the distributor that brought the world Married At First Sight.

New to the Seven. One’s formats catalogue is Match My Ex, a twist on the traditional reality dating format, in which celebrity singles hand over the matchmaking reins to their ex-lovers.

Produced by Madame Zheng, the show was originally commissioned by Joyn in Germany and Austria and One+ (Switzerland) and has been commissioned for a second season.

Debuting at the market is Play That Song Again, a primetime competition format produced by Herriemakers for RTL (Netherlands).

In this nostalgia-packed show, four contemporary singers compete to perform the best version of a legendary 80s song originally recorded by a generation-defining star such as Madonna, Michael Jackson or Cyndi Lauper. A studio audience decides who wins the coveted Play That Song Again Gold Record.

The Race is an adventure reality competition in which five well-travelled content creators compete against each other to reach a distant finish line first – a destination that is not revealed until the race begins.

The second season was in the top 10 of ProSiebenSat.1’s streaming service Joyn for nine weeks. A third season has already been commissioned and will be produced by Studio Flitz, the in-house production company for creator programmes.

Two new Married at First Sight spin-offs will be introduced to buyers at Mipcom. In Married at First Sight: The Last Resort, first produced by July August Productions for Keshet Channel 12 (Israel), 12 singles, all of whom who have been previously married, and some with families of their own, marry strangers and attempt to build a relationship surrounded by expert guidance and a supportive community of fellow couples. While in Married at Second Sight, 12 singles meet not at the altar… but at their engagement ceremony. After jetting off to a dreamy island, these scientifically matched couples take a leap of faith and get engaged – unseen. The show made its debut on Joyn and SAT.1 (Germany). It was produced by Redseven Entertainment

Seven. One Studios International will also be bringing over 200 hours of new English-language formats tape to Mipcom, including Married at First Sight USA season 19, Married at First Sight UK, season 10, Married at First Sight Australia season 12 and first seasons of Stranded on Honeymoon Island UK and Stranded on Honeymoon Island Australia.

On the scripted front, Seven. One Studios International will be bringing The Cooking Academy (120×30’) to Mipcom. Set at a prestigious German cookery school, talented chefs of tomorrow work closely together as they are trained for the demanding world of haute cuisine.

Other drama launches include Frier & 50 (8×30’), a comedic drama about Annette, a soon-to-be, 50-year-old actress who after discovering her husband is cheating on her with a younger woman, is offered a role on a TV show playing her own sister’s mother and then hears that she’s unexpectedly going to be a grandmother.

Returning dramas from Seven. One include the long running daily The Country Doctor of which 262×30’ episodes are now available. Produced by Filmpool Entertainment and commissioned for a fourth season by SAT.1, the series has sold internationally to TV2 in Hungary, on Duo Media in Estonia, on Nova TV in Croatia, on TV Polska in Poland and on Planet TV in Slovenia. In Germany, the series is currently running on Disney+, Joyn and SAT.1.

Also returning is the TV movie franchise The Blind Detective, produced by Tivoli Film Produktion. A hit for ARD in Germany and ORF and Austria, 13×90’ films are now available.
