Seven Network secures Fred Media/Radar partnership for new distribution deal

Seven Network has acquired shows such as Yummy Mummies

Newly rebranded Fred Media/Radar has forged a content partnership with Australia’s Seven Network acquiring over 150 hours of primetime content for international distribution.

The Seven slate includes a dozen titles from the reality, home, lifestyle, animals, design and food genres with additional format rights available. The new packaged slate will showcase at Mipcom next month.

The Seven slate incudes; Instant Hotel,  a glimpse inside the competitive world of accommodation rentals as hosts swap properties for a night to judge their rivals; Australia’s Cheapest Weddings; Yummy Mummies; The Mentor from Australian entrepreneur Mark Bouris who helps turnaround the distressed assets of small businesses; Dr Harry’s Animal Encounters; and Plate of Origin, which challenges teams of home cooks with distinct ethnic heritage, competing for  the best cuisine.

According to Fred Media/Radar’s head of operations and acquisitions Roger Vanderspikken, discussions with Seven about content distribution have been ongoing for a number of years and have landed at the right time for many titles that also have format viability globally

“Seven Network has a long-standing reputation for producing brilliant, ratings-winning primetime programming with big-name presenters, and we are now honoured to represent these 12 titles. Having format rights for many of these titles is a real bonus too. Strong, simple and compelling formats are much in demand, and we can readily see the huge potential for localised versions of shows such as Instant Hotel and Yummy Mummies.”

The collaboration builds on the established content relationship between the Seven Network and WTFN, Fred Media/Radar’s parent company. In recent years, WTFN produced several series for Seven, including true crime series The Hunters and Australia’s Most Dangerous Prisoners, Strike Force and Code 1: Minute By Minute, al titles which Fred Media/Radar also distributes.
