Seth Rogen’s Point Grey Pictures extends first-look deal with Lionsgate Television

L-R: Point Grey Pictures’ Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen and James Weaver

Lionsgate Television has extended its first-look deal with Point Grey Pictures, the US prodco run by Hollywood star Seth Rogen alongside co-founder Evan Goldberg and president James Weaver.

Under the terms of the agreement, Point Grey will continue to give Lionsgate first refusal on all scripted projects under development.

The announcement comes as both companies start production on new comedy series The Studio for Apple TV+. Rogen (Pineapple Express, The Long Shot) serves as writer, producer, director, executive producer and star of the show.

Lionsgate and Point Grey have previously partnered on the limited series Paul T Goldman for streamer Peacock.

Founded by Rogen and his long-time collaborator Goldberg in 2011, Point Grey has produced series such as Prime Video superhero hit The Boys and AMC’s Preacher.

Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate Television Group chairman and chief creative officer, said: “Seth, Evan and James are the masters of subversive, renegade humour. They are true trendsetters with their fingers on the pulse of what’s funny in entertainment.

“We began shooting their hilarious, wildly inventive half-hour comedy for Apple TV+ and can hardly wait to see what they do next.”

Rogen, Goldberg and Weaver added in a joint statement: “We look forward to continuing to push the creative envelope with Lionsgate Television.”
