Sesame Workshop hires inclusion director

Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organisation behind Sesame Street, has appointed a director of talent outreach, inclusion and creative development.

Rosemary Palacios

Rosemary Palacios has joined US-based Sesame Workshop in the role having previously been manager of global talent development and inclusion at NBCUniversal.

In the new role, Palacios will work on Sesame Workshop’s company-wide diversity, equity and inclusion strategy into all areas of show development and production. This spans ideation, scripting, creator and voice-over talent and visual development.

Palacios, who has previously held production roles at NBCUniversal and Nickelodeon, will additionally direct the Sesame Workshop Writers’ Room, acting as a mentor and coach to all fellowship participants, and oversee future pipeline programmes.

Earlier this year Sesame Workshop released new resources to support families in talking to their children about race and racism.

The content, ABCs of Racial Literacy, comes as part of the organisation’s ongoing commitment to racial justice, an initiative called Coming Together, and is available online in English and Spanish.
