Serious Lunch catches Gigglebug

The Gigglebug show airs on Channel 5’s Milkshake! block

UK-based distributor Serious Lunch has linked up with Finnish studio Gigglebug Entertainment to represent the latter’s preschool brand Gigglebug.

An animated series of 52×5′ episodes based on the property recently completed production and airs on Channel 5’s preschool programming block Milkshake! in the UK.

The brand, which began life as an app, follows a little bug with a distinctive laugh who has a knack for turning around sticky situations and helping his friends.

A fifth Gigglebug picture book will be released later this year, along with the fourth app in the series.

The international distribution rights to Gigglebug were previously acquired by Germany’s WDR Media Group, which was recently reorganised. It will continue to hold the rights in Germany.

The agreement comes after Serious Lunch founder Genevieve Dexter signed a coproduction deal for Helsinki-based Gigglebug’s comedy show Best & Bester last year via her production company Eye Present.
