The submission deadline for both branches is January 6, 2022. Series Mania will return to its usual March slot next year, with Series Mania Festival taking place from March 18 to 25 and Series Mania Forum running from March 22 to 24. This year, the event was held in September.

The Festival hands out awards across various categories to existing series. Sixty entrants will be selected from the submissions, with these then whittled down to 13 winners by a judging panel. Recent winners include Amazon Prime Video’s I Love Dick and UK pubcaster Channel 4’s The Virtues.

The Forum, meanwhile, features a pitching competition for coproductions. Fifteen projects will be selected from the submissions, with these being presented during the event to a judging panel made up of the best in the industry.

The best project, as voted for by the judges, will receive a €50,000 (US$58,000) prize. Past winners at the Forum include Italian financial drama Devils and Icelandic crime drama Stella Blomkvist.

Series Mania was created by now general director Laurence Herzberg in Paris in 2010 and has been hosted in Lille since 2018. The 2020 event was entirely virtual, while this year’s edition was a hybrid physical and digital affair.
