Serial killer sequel Dexter: Resurrection headlines latest SkyShowtime slate

Michael C. Hall returns as Dexter Morgan in Dexter: Resurrection

Pan-European streamer SkyShowtime has unveiled a slate of new local originals, returning series, docs and tentpole dramas such as serial killer series Dexter: Resurrection.

The latter is the sequel to Dexter: New Blood and sees Michael C. Hall reprise his role as forensics expert and vigilante murderer Dexter Morgan.

Originally commissioned by Paramount+ and Showtime, it is scheduled to premiere on SkyShowtime on September 12. The supporting cast includes Uma Thurman (Kill Bill) and Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones).

Upcoming new titles include suspense mystery series All Her Fault, starring Sarah Snook; action-packed adventure Atomic, featuring Alfie Allen as a free-spirited drug trafficker; cat-and-mouse chase thriller The Iris Affair, set in Italy and starring Niamh Algar and Tom Hollander; true crime drama The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey, with Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen; and media mockumentary series The Paper, starring Domhnall Gleeson.

The slate also features a number of new local originals. Spanish drama Arcadia is due this Autumn and tells the story of a man who settles in the Canary Islands after running away from his violent past in Mexico.

Meanwhile, Polish documentary Krychowiak: One Step from the Top was exclusively announced at C21’s Content Warsaw event and details the extraordinary life of footballer Grzegorz Krychowiak. Re-booted scripted crime drama series Glina is another Polish original, returning to screens for the first time in 17 years with stars Maciej Stuhr and Jacek Braciak.

Swedish comedy Where the Sun Always Shines is due in November and follows a wealthy couple whose lives are upended by unexpected events at a 50th birthday party.

Crime drama Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy features Michael Chernus as the notorious US serial killer. NCIS: Tony & Ziva, the newest instalment of hit procedural franchise NCIS, will launch this Autumn.

Suits (S1-9) is coming to the platform from July 17, while spin-off series Suits LA will follow on August 28.

Returning series include Poker Face (S2), Tulsa King (S3), Mayor of Kingstown (S4), Landman (S2), Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (S3), Veronika (S2), The Office (S8-9) and Ted (S2).

Launched in September 2022, SkyShowtime is the joint venture OTT service from Comcast’s Sky and Paramount Global. Active in more than 20 territories, the SVoD boasts content from the combined catalogues of Universal Pictures, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks Animation, Paramount+, Showtime, Sky Studios and Peacock.
