Serbia’s Adrenalin launches second season of Balkan crime thriller Besa

Besa is filmed across the Balkans

Serbian indie Adrenalin is launching the second season of Balkan crime thriller series Besa to the international market next week.

Created from an original idea by Adrenalin founder Srdjan Saper and first premiering in 2018, Besa follows the desperate struggles of an ordinary man who is forced to become a hitman to protect his family after becoming indebted to an Albanian drug lord.

Shot in five countries across the Balkans, season two is set three years later, when the man and his family are in a witness-protection programme after testifying against the drug lord. The second season will have its world premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival on Monday.

Season one of Besa was coproduced by Adrenalin and UK-based Red Planet Pictures, and written by a team headed by Red Planet founder and executive chairman Tony Jordan.

Season two was created by Igor Stoimenov, who also wrote and directed most of the episodes, and produced by Adrenalin and Telekom Serbia. It will premiere in the Balkan region at the end of this month.

The international cast includes Arben Barjkaraj (Harry Potter, Taken), Radivoje Rasa Bukic (Taken, Die Hard), Milos Timotijevic (Chernobyl Diaries), Katrina Cas (Wolf of Wall Street), Gert Raudsep (Cherry Tobacco), Milan Maric (Dovlatov) and Florist Bajgora (Gangs of London).
