See-Saw JV Picking Scabs starts production on Grown Ups adaptation in Ireland

See-Saw Films’ Australian joint-venture prodco Picking Scabs has begun production in Ireland on eight-part series Grown Ups, an adaptation of the novel by Marian Keyes for Netflix.

Samantha Strauss, who co-founded the JV with UK-based See-Saw in 2020, developed and created the project and serves as writer and executive producer. Keyes optioned the book to Strauss in the same year and serves as exec producer.

The drama follows the dysfunctional Casey family, bound together by an unexpected family death which heralds an emotional reckoning for the whole clan.

The series will be co-directed by James Griffiths and Ciaran Donnelly. The executive producers also include Helen Gregory, Andy Noble, Shay Spencer, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman and James Griffiths. Simon Gillis serves as co-executive producer and Liz Gill is series producer.

The cast includes Sarah Greene (Bad Sisters, Normal People), Barry Ward (Bad Sisters, The End of the F***ing World), Robert Sheehan (Umbrella Academy Misfits) and Sinéad Cusack (Marcella, MotherFatherSon).
