Secret Life of Us gets re-order

The UK's Channel 4, Network Ten (Australia) and Southern Star have together greenlit another 22×60' series of their co-production The Secret Life of Us.

The series is budgeted at A$10m (US$5.2m), with the Sydney-based distributor contributing on a no-risk basis.

Channel 4's commissioning editor Lucy Richer said the first series {has been great summer viewing. The press saw in it the same qualities we saw in it: innovative writing and realistic performances.{

She added that the show gave viewers a look into {after-dark 20-something Australia – an Australia we've never seen before.{

Channel 4 schedules the drama in a Wednesday 22:55 slot, where it draws about 1m viewers. It originally went out a 22:30, straight after Big Brother, which gave the show some 1.5m viewers.

Network Ten's gm of network programming David Mott added: {The show has performed extremely well for us in the key demographic and there's no doubt it has great word of mouth.{

The show follows eight Melbourne flatsharers, and is created and produced by John Edwards and Amanda Higgs.
