Seb Shorr promoted at Fremantle

Seb Shorr has been promoted to exec VP of commercial and business affairs for Fremantle’s scripted business.

Previously head of legal and business affairs for international coproduction, Shorr will support Fremantle’s drama labels in negotiating development, co-development and coproduction deals.

Working in close partnership with president of global drama Christian Vesper and the Fremantle International team, Shorr will also oversee negotiations of first-look and talent deals, as well as IP acquisitions in the scripted space.

Andrea Scrosati, Fremantle’s group chief operating officer, said: “This is a key role for our scripted business as we focus on international growth. Seb has overseen some very creative deals and negotiations over the last three years, and this new position is testament to his passion for our scripted shows and his unique expertise.”

In recent years, Fremantle has secured a number of talent deals and partnerships with third-party producers, including the Oscar-winning Larrain brothers’ label Fabula, which partnered with Fremantle on La Jauria, and Richard Brown’s label Passenger, which is working with the company on Hulu’s Wild Rabbit.

Shorr joined Fremantle for in 2017, before which he was head of business affairs at Lookout Point. His promotion follows the recent news that Christian Vesper has been upped to president of global drama, with oversight of Fremantle’s strategy to grow its slate of high-end and mainstream dramas.
