Screen Manchester assembles free database of local production crew, facilities

Northern England production support body Screen Manchester is building a crew and facilities database for local talent.

International and UK-based broadcasters, streaming services and independent producers will be able to use the free service to hire experienced and local crew, as well as source facilities across Manchester and the wider regions, according to Screen Manchester.

The initiative is headed by Elli Metcalfe, crew and facilities manager at Screen Manchester, who was formerly a freelance producer for companies including UK pubcaster the BBC and commercial broadcaster ITV.

Metcalfe said: “Whatever the size or genre of production, Screen Manchester will help source the right people to enable each shoot to run smoothly and successfully. We are delighted with the sign-up to the database so far and are keen to invite other experienced production freelancers and facility companies to register.

“It is important to stress that by joining, the crew and companies will be supporting and future-proofing the growth and connectivity of the North West regional network.”

Screen Manchester was founded in 2017 and provides comprehensive support for all levels of production in the city and the wider area.
