Screen finance expert Sharon Menzies joins New Zealand Film Commission board

The New Zealand Film Commission has appointed film financing specialist Sharon Menzies to its board of directors.

Sharon Menzies

Menzies has over 25 years of film financing experience in New Zealand, Australia and the UK and is most well-known for establishing Fulcrum Media Finance in 2008, in partnership with See-Saw Films. More recently, she launched independent screen financing consultancy Hinterland in New Zealand.

Menzies also serves as deputy chair of the New Zealand Film Festival Trust and has served as co-president of SPADA, president of Women in Film and Television and Chair of Film Bay of Plenty.

The NZFC said that as Menzies joins the board as an active member of the film industry, it will put in place a “robust conflict of interest management plan,” according to policy.

Menzies replaces Sandra Kailahi and Ant Timpson, who left after serving as NZFC board members for more than six years.

In January, the government appointed two new industry representatives to the NZFC board: film, television and formats producer and showrunner Jon Kroll and Pic’s Peanut Butter CEO Aimee McCammon.
