Brunsdon, who was previously head of Screen NSW, will lead the agency’s production investment, development, distribution support and initiatives across feature film, television, online and documentary. Brunsdon will begin the role on March 21.

Over the past 12 years, Brunsdon has held several senior roles at Screen NSW, Create NSW and Arts NSW. For the past two-and-a-half years, she has been head of Screen NSW, overseeing New South Wales state’s investment in the screen sector, including its production incentives, industry development and providing support to NSW productions as they navigated Covid-19 lockdowns.

She was also formerly the director of arts investment at Create NSW, where she was instrumental in introducing initiatives that addressed gender parity issues within the local screen sector.

Screen Australia CEO Graeme Mason said: “With her immense cultural leadership experience, Grainne is superbly placed to lead our content department to continue to support the Australian screen industry and the advancement of our local storytellers and stories.”

On Caplan’s departure, Mason added: “Sally was a formidable head of content whose invaluable advice and guidance has left a wonderful legacy at Screen Australia. We are very grateful for her tremendous hard work during her time at the agency.”
