Scorpion feeds Curiosity with factual

Factual-focused US SVoD service Curiosity Stream is among the broadcasters to have picked up content from independent UK distributor Scorpion TV.

The streamer, launched by Discovery Channel founder John Hendricks last year, has picked up one-off science doc Microbirth, produced by Alto Films.

It’s one of a raft of summer factual deals sealed by Scorpion and its CEO David Cornwall.

Portuguese broadcaster RTP has taken a package including Dirty Gold War, War Reporter and Red Light.

Al Jazeera in the Middle East has taken Andrew Carnegie – Rags to Riches, Power to Peace, Linotype and Cyber Bully, among others.

Australian pubcaster SBS has taken Boobs, the story of British model precious Muir who undergoes breast enhancement surgery to aid her modelling career in New York and the unexpected aftermath of the decision. Payday and Craigslist Joe have also been acquired by the broadcaster.

Finally, TVN has taken a number of titles for its international Polish-language service including Tornado Chasers, Conquering the World and Wolves Unleashed.

It has also added Cannabis, which centres on a woman whose search for a cure for her brain cancer leads her to break the law to try to prolong her life.
