SBS6 picks up De Mol avatar format

Talpa-owned Dutch network SBS6 has commissioned a singing and dancing show that sees avatars compete against each other.

From John de Mol’s Talpa Entertainment Productions, Avastars will pair up singers and dancers to create avatars that will perform in live shows. Each week a pair will be eliminated, while the winners go on to release a single and music video. The show will premiere next year.

John de Mol, former founder of Endemol and Talpa Media, is known for creating Big Brother and The Voice. His last company, Talpa Media, founded in 2009, was sold to ITV in 2015 and became part of ITV Studios this year.

Talpa Network has four free-to-air TV channels, a Dutch video platform and a number of social media channels and brands.
