Sat.1, Joyn enrol in The Detective Club for first int’l adaptation of Banijay format

The Detective Club involves a search for a missing dog

German broadcaster Sat.1 and streamer Joyn have ordered a local adaptation of Banijay Entertainment’s reality format The Detective Club.

Banijay Productions Germany will produce the local version, titled Club der Reality Detektive, which marks the first international adaptation of the format.

Originally created by Banijay France’s B Prod for French network W9, The Detective Club sees reality stars collect clues and face interrogation to uncover the truth behind the mysterious disappearance of the host’s dog.

Acting as amateur detectives, celebrities must identify the three culprits hidden among them, searching for clues and interrogating fellow contestants. At the end of each episode, players must name their prime suspect, with the guilty contestants having the power to secretly eliminate the sharpest detectives.

According to Banijay, the format was W9’s best reality launch since April 2024 and also attracted more than 44 million views on its TikTok channel.
