SA to Come Dine again

BBC Worldwide (BBCWW) Channels has ordered a second season of cooking competition series Come Dine With Me for its South African feed.

The ITV Studios-owned dinner party format first broadcast in the territory last year on the BBC Entertainment channel, which runs through the DStv pay-TV platform.

Local production firm Rapid Blue is again attached to produce, this time for an extended 12-part run later in the year. The show will also run on BBCWW networks across the Middle East, the Nordic states and Poland.

Season one attracted more than 100,000 viewers for each episode’s premiere and reached an overall 2.5 million DStv viewers. “Creating local versions of hugely successful British formats and investing in original commissions is part of our ongoing commitment to our audiences in the region,” said BBCWW Channels senior VP and general manager for EMEA Ian McDonough.
