S4C orders second season of Welsh-language The World According to Grandpa

Boom Cymru’s Byd Tad-Cu returns this autumn

Welsh pubcaster S4C has commissioned a second season of Byd Tad-Cu, the Welsh-language version of children’s series The World According to Grandpa.

Byd Tad-Cu is produced by Boom Cymru and will return for season two this autumn on S4C’s preschool service Cyw.

The original The World According to Grandpa comes from Saffron Cherry Productions and Grandpa Productions and airs on Paramount-owned Channel 5’s Milkshake! block in the UK. Season two premiered last year.

The show, which uses a mix of live-action and animation, features a grandpa who answers real questions from children through nonsensical stories. Grandpa’s puppet rabbit then sets the stories straight.

The World According to Grandpa was supported by the UK government-funded Young Audiences Content Fund, which controversially ended last year.

Amazon’s audiobook and podcast service Audible has also adapted the English-language series into an audio version, while the original show is currently being developed into a touring stage production.
