RTVE, TV3 shop at Scorpion TV

US Hispanic broadcaster HITN acquired Chile: A Wild Journey

Spanish national broadcaster RTVE and Televisio de Catalunya’s TV3 are among the Iberian broadcasters to have picked up a slate of factual projects from London-based distributor Scorpion TV.

RTVE has become one of the first buyers to acquire the recently launched Holy Silence (1×52’) for its Documentos channel.

The doc tells the story of the Vatican’s actions and inactions in the lead-up to the Second World War and claims to reveal the truth about ‘Hitler’s Pope,’ Pius XII, who was accused of being a Nazi sympathiser.

The documentary first aired on US pubcaster PBS, produced by PerlePress Productions and directed by Steven Pressman.

TV3 has acquired Siyaya: Come Wild With Us and Wildest Cape for its kids’ strand.

Produced by Francois Odendaal Productions for South African public broadcaster SABC, Siyaya: Come Wild With Us is an adventure series for kids set in and around South Africa’s national parks.

Wildest Cape travels to South Africa’s Western Cape Province, which is flanked by two major marine ecosystems, the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.

SIC in Portugal has bought Fortune Fights (10×45’) for its Caras channel, a series that examines the careers, personal lives and legal battles of stars including Johnny Depp, Harrison Ford, Madonna and Robin Williams.

RTP3 in Portugal has acquired A Cure for Fear (1×52’) from First Look Media, a documentary directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Lana Wilson which focuses on the work of clinical psychologist Dr Merel Kindt, who has discovered a cure for phobias using common medication.

Chile: A Wild Journey, which has been picked up by US Hispanic broadcaster HITN, is a documentary that looks at the creatures, some virtually unknown to science, found in the South American country.

The sales were brokered by Carolina Pribanic, Scorpion’s head of sales for Spain and Latin America.
