Mediacrest to produce new version of Primitives’ And the Rest is History for Spain’s RTVE

And the Rest is History previously aired on Movistar Plus+

Spanish public broadcaster RTVE has given the green light to a new local adaptation of history and comedy quizshow And the Rest is History for La 2, its second national channel.

Produced by Mediacrest, the Spanish version will be titled Aprobado en Historia (Passed in History) and will consist of 12 one-hour episodes. It is scheduled to premiere in the second quarter of 2026.

This marks the return to Spain of the format distributed by Belgian company Primitives. Previously, it ran for 10 seasons on Movistar Plus+ and its channel #0, produced by Zeppelin (Banijay Iberia) under the title Cero en Historia (Zero in History).

As with the previous version, the La 2 programme will be presented by Joaquín Reyes.

And the Rest is History was created by Belgian production company Woestijnvis and originally aired on local broadcaster Play4. In each episode, it pits four celebrities against each other in a six-round competition, uncovering the true stories behind archival photographs, historical artefacts and significant events.
