RTL to cross land, sea and air once more with competition format revival

The format to Crossing Land, Sea & Air dates back to 1973

Dutch broadcaster RTL is reviving one of the country’s longest-running formats by ordering a new series of competition show Crossing Land, Sea & Air.

Following a successful 50th anniversary special of the show last year, RTL has greenlit a new 4×55’ series to be produced by EndemolShine Nederland, part of Banijay Benelux.

The Banijay Entertainment format sees contestants from across the country participate in a spectacular set of races in which they build their own vehicles. Each designed for a unique challenge, they are judged on speed, agility and creativity, with a special prize for the most innovative design.

The format was originally created by TROS and René Stokvis in 1973.
