RTL Germany goes for local Domination in gameshow commission with Tresor

The German adaption is titled Schlauer als Alle – Schlägst du Deutschland?

German broadcaster RTL has commissioned a local version of primetime gameshow Domination from Keshet International’s Munich-based unscripted prodco Tresor.

Based on Keshet Broadcasting’s original format produced for Keshet 12 in Israel, the German adaptation is called Schlauer als Alle – Schlägst du Deutschland?.

The quiz format sees a single player attempt to outsmart the rest of the nation using knowledge and strategy. The contestant goes head-to-head with groups of randomly selected people – from doctors to supermarket cashiers – who have answered trivia questions in advance.

In each round, the contestant selects a group to compete against in a specified category. With every round won, the time limit shrinks and the game gets tougher. If the contestant makes it to the grand finale, they can choose to walk away with a guaranteed €20,000 (US$22,732), or risk it all and play against the elite team for €100,000.

RTL has commissioned Tresor to make two 90-minute episodes of the show, directed by Frank Lieberich and exec produced by Tobias Cullmann and Axel Kühn. It will premiere on May 19. Keshet International distributes the format globally.
