RTÉ, YLE pick up Daily Madness toon

Pins & Nettie looks at shyness and anxiety among preschoolers

Broadcasters in Ireland, South Africa and Finland have acquired an animated series about shyness produced by Ireland’s Daily Madness and sold by Monster Entertainment.

Irish pubcaster RTÉ, Showmax in South Africa and YLE in Finland will air Pins & Nettie (26×5′), while SVoD services Minno and Hopster have taken the series in multiple territories.

Exploring issues of shyness and anxiety in preschoolers, the series was first pitched at Cartoon Forum in Toulouse last year. It went into production earlier this year and has just been completed.

The show, co-created by Daily Madness founder Lindsey Adams and Shannon George, launched as a miniseries on YouTube in weekly instalments aimed at under-fives stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic.

The show follows two hedgehogs as they learn about fun new games they can play either indoors or in their garden.

Pins & Nettie is written by George and produced/directed by Adams, with art direction by Adam Kavanagh and music by Jonathan Casey.

It is Daily Madness’s first series based on its own IP and has since been followed up by Goat Girl, which was the most viewed project at the recent online-only Cartoon Forum.
