Rocket takes off with Cops catalogue

The Cops catalogue comprises 33 seasons

Rocket Rights, the UK-based distributor founded by David and Matthew Frank last year, has secured the worldwide rights to long-running US observational doc Cops.

The agreement between Rocket and the show’s producer, Langley Productions, encompasses more than 1,500 hours of programming including Jail, Vegas Strip and Cops Reloaded, in addition to Cops.

Cops follows police officers, constables and sheriffs’ deputies during patrols and various police activity by embedding camera crews with their units.

The show ran to 33 seasons, on US broadcast network Fox until 2013, then Spike and more recently Paramount, until it was cancelled last year in the wake of the death of George Floyd and subsequent protests against police brutality. Rocket will shop the back catalogue of episodes outside the US.

Rocket’s sister company, Rights Booster, will handle exploitation on VoD platforms and OTT channels outside the US.

Former RDF and Zodiak Rights execs the Franks launched London-based distributor Rocket Rights at the turn of the year.
