C21’s Content London took place last week with senior executives, producers, writers and talent from all around the world convening in the UK capital to get a glimpse of the hottest new shows, put together deals for those in development and discuss the latest trends and industry issues.

Among those delivering keynotes were recently appointed Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade and president of entertainment Michael Thorn, who spoke to Jordan Pinto about their unscripted and scripted programming strategies and approach to working with international partners.

The pair discussed how the company is aiming to apply its cost-effective unscripted production model to the scripted space, building on the success of series such as The Masked Singer and Gordon Ramsay’s Next Level Chef with new dramas like Accused, from Homeland creator Howard Gordon.

They also gave an update on the US$100m international unscripted formats fund Fox Entertainment unveiled last year and explained why the firm was happy to stay out of the streaming wars, preferring to license via a new distribution arm rather than warehouse content within its own walled gardens.

Also at Content London was Baby Cow Productions head of development Rupert Majendie, an experienced producer of TV, film, online and live comedy, with titles such as Pls Like, The Witchfinder and Chivalry under his belt.

He spoke to Nico Franks about the work he and Baby Cow are doing to develop new comedy talent and remaking UK comedy hits in the US, plus the recently launched Live at the Moth Club, a comedy series for Dave that showcases acts on the alternative scene while pulling back the curtain on life backstage.

C21FM is live 24/7, with a block of interviews starting at 10am BST every day HERE.
