Rewind looks back with Hits Movies

Singaporean entertainment firm Rewind Networks is launching movie channel that will feature hit films made between 1960 and 1990.

Hits Movies HD will become available via Singaporean pay operator StarHub TV’s service on October 1, offering movies from studios including MGM Studios and Paramount Pictures in high definition.

Its launch line-up will include Grease, West Side Story, Star Trek: The Motion Picture and The Terminator, as well as The Italian Job, The Pink Panther, Trading Places and Fatal Attraction. Westerns such as For A Few Dollars More will also be available.

Avi Himatsinghani, CEO at Rewind Networks, said the new channel “fills a clear need gap in the evolving subscription video landscape for quality, evergreen movies on the basic tier – a perfect fit for StarHub viewers looking for a unique and compelling entertainment offering at no additional cost.”

Sandie Lee, Rewind’s VP and channel head, added: “It is important for us that the titles we pick for the channel resonate strongly with viewers who would love to watch them fondly again or, in the case of younger viewers, may have heard of these movies through remakes and adaptations but never had the chance to watch the originals.

“In addition to MGM Studios and Paramount Pictures, we will be acquiring movies from other leading studios in the coming months.”
