Revamped Gladiators get ready to compete in Australia on Paramount’s Network 10

Hosts of the new Gladiators series Beau Ryan and Liz Ellis

Australia’s Paramount-owned Ten Network has confirmed a reboot of the 1990s live action competitive format Gladiators.

Gladiators will screen in 2024, with a revamped arena and a new raft of competitive events in addition to the classic retro challenges of the original series.

As foreshadowed last month Warner Bros International Television Production has started pre-production on the series but a network partner had yet to be revealed at that point.

The original series of Gladiators in Australia ran for two seasons across 1995 and 1996 on the Seven Network.

The new Gladiators will be made for Network 10 and executive produced by one of the original Gladiators creators Johnny C Ferraro and Barry Poznick. The original Gladiators series was created by Ferraro and Dan Carr and produced in association with Flor-Jon Films. The Gladiators global franchise is now distributed by Amazon MGM Studios Distribution.

The new series will be hosted by retired Australian netballer Liz Ellis and former rugby league star Beau Ryan.

The news follows the BBC’s decision to reboot the show, which had previously aired on ITV and Sky in the UK, with a premiere due shortly on BBC One.
